Public Participation for Virtual Meetings

Public engagement is a critical component of the civic process. The City Council of the City of Grand Junction values the input it receives from members of the public during meetings and has made changes to the format of City Council meetings to make it easier for the public to comment. Due to current health precautions associated with COVID-19, the City of Grand Junction is providing alternative ways for residents to participate in public meetings. Information on ways the public can participate remotely in public meetings is included below.

Public Participation for Virtual Meetings

Unable to attend a City Council meeting, but want to make your voice heard? Below are instructions to participate in virtual meetings:

In Advance of the Council Meeting

Call 244-1504 and leave a voicemail message for Council before noon on the day of the meeting. Please specify that the message is intended for the Council meeting. Messages will be played and entered into the record at the next Council meeting.

Provide your written comments in an online form before noon on the day of the meeting.  The link to the form is on the top of the City Council agenda.

You can watch a live stream of the meeting online from the comfort and safety of your home. The meeting will be live streamed on our website. Meetings that are live streamed will have a camera or "Live" icon next to them on the list. Select the button to watch the meeting live.

Should you have additional needs which exceed the above options, please know we will do our best to accommodate your participation. Please email the City Clerk with any questions about alternative ways to participate. 

As a reminder, the City Council meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month and holds workshops on Mondays preceding the official meetings. Agendas and minutes of meetings can be found on our website. Thank you for your understanding as we implement these new options for participation in public meetings to comply with the current guidelines and slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

Boards & Commissions Meetings

Interested in attending a meeting of a board or commission virtually? Below are instructions for specific boards and commissions to participate virtually:

Planning Commission

  • Provide written comment at or by emailing 
  • Comment by phone. Dial the telephone number (970) 609-9688 and enter the four-digit code provided for each item on the agenda. You can then leave a message, which will be submitted as a public comment both as an audio file and as text translation.
  • Attend the meeting virtually by using the link on the meeting’s agenda.
