Grand Junction, CO - On September 24, 2025, at approximately 10:40 a.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a reported hit and run.
During the investigation, officers learned that a vehicle traveling westbound on North Avenue struck a street sign and a light pole in the center median between 28 ¼ Road and 28 ½ Road, causing the pole to fall into the roadway. There were no injuries reported. Xcel Energy responded to address the downed pole.
Officers contacted the driver a short distance from the crash and took her into custody. Sara Sargent (age 27) was arrested and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility, where she was charged with the following:
- DUI
- No Insurance in Possession
- Driving Under Restraint
- Reckless Driving
- Failed to Notify Police of Accident
- Violation of Protection Order
