Registration Open for GJPD’s 2026 Community Police Academy

The Grand Junction Police Department (GJPD) is excited to announce that registration is now open for the 2026 Community Police Academy. This 10-week program offers Mesa County residents a unique opportunity to learn more about law enforcement operations while building stronger relationships between the community and the Grand Junction Police Department.

Participants will gain an insider’s perspective on the day-to-day work of GJPD officers and explore a wide range of police functions through classroom presentations, hands-on demonstrations, and simulated scenarios.

Program highlights include:

  • Patrol Operations
  • Drug Task Force
  • Investigations
  • Bomb Squad
  • Crime Lab
  • SWAT
  • Dispatch
  • And much more

Program Details:

  • When: February 26, 2026 – May 2, 2026
  • Where: Grand Junction Police Department, 555 Ute Avenue
  • Time: Thursday evenings from 6:00–8:30 p.m.
    (Final class will be held on Saturday, May 2)
  • Eligibility: Open to Mesa County residents ages 18 and older

Participants should be prepared for physical activity, including extended periods of standing and walking. Some activities may take place outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
