Deputy Chief William Baker

Deputy Chief William Baker grew up in Grand Junction and spent four years serving in the United States Air Force as a police bomb dog handler. He worked at the Montrose Police Department for two years before joining the Grand Junction Police Department in 1997. During his time here, Deputy Chief Baker has worked and supervised Investigations, Patrol, Traffic Unit, Professional Standards Unit and Motor Officers.

Deputy Chief William Baker has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and has completed several thousand hours of continued education and advanced training during his tenure with the Grand Junction Police Department.

Since being promoted to the rank of Commander in 2018, Deputy Chief Baker most recently served as a Professional Standards Commander, overseeing our Recruiting, Internal Affairs, Training, Police Records, and Property and Evidence sections. As Deputy Chief of Services, he currently oversees the Services Division, including the Professional Standards, and the Grand Junction Regional Dispatch Center.
