D 1/2 Road Improvements

Background

The D ½ Road corridor, located east of 29 Road, serves as a major east-west collector roadway for the Pear Park area. This is also a critical corridor for access to Pear Park Elementary and Fire Station #8. The majority of the D ½ Road corridor from 29 Road to 32 Road consists of a 3-lane corridor with pedestrian facilities. However, the section of D ½ Road from 29 ¼ Road to 30 Road is still a 2-lane road without pedestrian facilities and acts as a bottleneck in the transportation system. The section of D ½ Road from 29 ¼ Road to 30 Road was prioritized for improvements as part of a 2019 Bond measure that was approved by voters for transportation funding.

Schedule

This project is scheduled to be constructed in 2026.

Proposed Improvements

This project will widen D ½ Road from 29 ¼ Road to 30 Road to a 3-lane collector road section to match the road section on either end, which will include construction of curb, gutter, sidewalk, bike lanes, and streetlights. The project improvements are proposed to increase safety and accommodate the projected traffic volumes for the area.
