Police Service Technicians, or PSTs, are civilian staff who play a vital role in the police department, handling a large volume of calls for service and freeing up patrol officers to handle in progress and high priority calls. PSTs handle counter reports, as well as online reports. These reports include but are not limited to, cold thefts, traffic accidents, abandoned vehicles, VIN inspections, and other non-emergency calls.

The GJPD implemented online reporting in 2019. Since then, online reports have more than doubled. Many non-emergent incidents may be filed on online.
