The City has introduced an irrigation review for residential properties as part of our Smart Watering Program. This review helps determine the efficiency of the irrigation system, provides recommendations, and creates a monthly water budget that can easily reduce water use by 25% or more. The review identifies excess and an increase in watering, recommends irrigation fixes, and teaches the owner how to assess the landscape's water needs.
Qualifications for an irrigation review:
- Must be a City of Grand Junction water user
- Must be present and know how to operate the irrigation system
- Need to have spray or rotary irrigation heads. *Staff can assist with a water budget for drip systems
- Willing to make a change. Landscapes may struggle for a few weeks as they adjust to different watering times and/or amounts.
An irrigation review can be combined with other water conservation programs. The irrigation class is recommended to support this savings program.

Free Aerators, Low-Flow Showerheads, and Toilet Tablets:
Don’t have the time or money to make big investments in water conservation? Stop by the City Utilities office at 910 Main Street and pick up a free sink aerator and/or low-flow shower head to save about a gallon per minute. Toilet leak tablets are a fast and easy way to check the number one leaker inside the house.
